HERE ARE THE LATEST UPDATES!
IMPORTANT NEW LAST-MINUTE INFORMATION
APPEARS in GREEN TYPE...

If you have registered for this event, PLEASE READ THESE NEW DETAILS
This page last updated September 26, 2018.

  • The latest car count places our group at around 60+ vehicles and 115 participants.
  • FRIDAY NOTE #1: Pre-reserved Dinner Tickets for the Kingman Dinner event will be distributed at Freddy's Cruise-In (Flagstaff) before 6:00pm by Denny Deal or Jim Einck. We will also make some important tour announcements at this time. Please try to be present there!
  • FRIDAY NOTE #2: If you need to fill your thirsty gas tank for the Saturday drive, it is strongly recommended that you fill-up on Friday night before adjourning for the evening in Williams. Suggestion: Love's Truck Stop (located at Williams, AZ's "mid-town" I-40 exit #163).
  • SATURDAY MORNING BREAKFAST at South Rims IS CANCELLED: The proposed breakfast at South Rims on Saturday morning DID NOT materialize. Consequently, if your lodging does not offer a breakfast package with your room, you're on your own for breakfast!
  • SATURDAY DEPARTURE NOTICE: The official GTOAA STREET LEGENDS TOUR schedule lists an 8:00am departure from the Canyon Motel in Williams, but that does NOT mean you must leave Williams at that time. It is strongly advised, however, that you begin your journey west no later than 9:00am. Why? Your goal is to arrive at Hackberry, AZ by 11:30am for our group photo session in front of the General Store (Leaving Williams by 9:00am still will give you plenty of leisurely time to cover the distance from Williams to Hackberry even with a brief stop along the way should you so desire... IF YOU DEPART WILLIAMS AT 8am as announced in the GTOAA instructions, you're gonna arrive in Hackberry way too soon!
  • OUR 11:30am GROUP PHOTO at the Hackberry General Store is intended to be for Pontiacs ONLY! If you are driving a non-Pontiac, please do not line-up your vehicle for this photo... It is intended to appear in the GTO Club and Pontiac Club magazines! Non-Pontiacs should park either to the far left or right, or across the highway. Thank you for your cooperation!
  • ONWARD WE CARAVAN! We have been requested to arrive as a group in Kingman. Why? There are many moving parts and pieces to the "puzzle" of activities happening in downtown Kingman on Saturday for Andy Devine Days before 12 Noon. OUR RESERVED PARKING SPACES WILL NOT be available before then. Once we depart the Hackberry General Store's Photo Session, we'll head out as a group, but please try to stay together for the 20-mile drive to Kingman. Our goal is to arrive in downtown Kingman between Noon and 12:30pm... BUT NOT ANY EARLIER!
  • SATURDAY DINNER UPDATE... Please note these new times:Doors at the Grand Events Center will open at 5:00pm for the no-host cocktail bar and Meet-and-Greet. Beer and wine will be available from the cash bar. Buffet Dinner to be served at 6:00pm. Please note that gluten-free pasta will be made available to anyone who requests it.
  • Our program for the evening will include guest speaker Jeff Lovich ("Pontiac Pet Peeves LIVE!"), along with Tom Oxler, Don Duryea, plus a special surprise guest!
  • SUNDAY DEPARTURE NOTICE: The official GTOAA STREET LEGENDS TOUR schedule lists an 8:00am departure, but once again, if you leave at that early hour, you will arrive in Oatman for lunch WAY TOO SOON! Instead, you are urged to first join us for breakfast at the world-famous Mr. D'z Route 66 Diner in Kingman (opens at 8:00am) and then spend an hour with us visiting The Powerhouse Visitor Center's museum and electric car collection located just across the street. Doors there open at 9:00am; a discounted $2/person admission charge will be honored for us. Addresses for these businesses are listed in the ACTIVITES section below.
  • Later... Departure for Oatman and Needles, California, or return to Phoenix/Tucson, etc. afterwards.

WHAT IS THIS EVENT?
The Route 66 Street Legends Tour is similar to a HOT ROD Magazine “Power Tour”
where you can join along with the procession anywhere, at any time, for as many miles as you’d like.
It’s a rolling caravan, cruise and car show... together in one event!

WHO CAN CAN PARTICIPATE?
This event is open to ALL PONTIACS & GMC TRUCKS, both old and new.
Although this event is sponsored by the GTO Association of America,
you need not be a member of the club to participate.
We do ask you to please REGISTER though (free of charge)
so that we can better plan for the events/activities.

WHERE AND WHEN?
The event officially begins in Pontiac. Illinois following the GTOAA Regional Meet
at the Pontiac-Oakland Museum, on Monday, September 17, 2018.
Download the FULL SCHEDULE at www.gtoaa.org
Look for the  "Route 66 Street Legends" tab on the left side of the page.
(schedule subject to modification, so be sure to check back often!)

The tour will then head west, with pre-planned stops and meet-up locations each morning.
Again, check the FULL SCHEDULE to learn the "where and when" for each day.

WHAT'S HAPPENING IN ARIZONA?
The three active Pontiac/GMC Truck clubs here in Arizona plan to welcome
the westbound group when it reaches Flagstaff on Friday, September 28.
Our series of activities invites ALL PONTIAC & GMC TRUCK owners and enthusiasts
to then join along as the Route 66 Street Legends caravan continues its journey
west towards Kingman, Arizona on Saturday.
The event officially ends in nearby Needles, CA on Sunday, September 30, 2018.

Come join the fun!
