WHAT IS THIS EVENT?
The Route 66 Street Legends Tour is similar to a HOT ROD Magazine
where you can join along with the procession anywhere, at any time,
for as many miles as you’d like.
It’s a rolling caravan, cruise and car show... together in
WHO CAN CAN PARTICIPATE?
This event is open to ALL PONTIACS & GMC TRUCKS, both
old and new.
Although this event is sponsored by the GTO Association of America,
you need not be a member of the club to participate.
We do ask you to please REGISTER though (free of charge)
so that we can better plan for the events/activities.
WHERE AND WHEN?
The event officially begins in Pontiac. Illinois following the GTOAA
at the Pontiac-Oakland Museum, on Monday, September 17, 2018.

The tour will then head west, with pre-planned stops and meet-up
locations each morning.

the westbound group when it reaches Flagstaff on Friday, September

to then join along as the Route 66 Street Legends caravan continues
west towards Kingman, Arizona on Saturday.
The event officially ends in nearby Needles, CA on Sunday, September

FREE TO PARTICIPATE?
Yes, the event is FREE, but you are still responsible for
your own food, travel and lodging expenses.
You are urged to make your overnight lodging reservations soon.
Do so right away... don’t risk being left out!

ARIZONA ROUTE 66 ACTIVITIES - TENTATIVE SCHEDULE OF EVENTS

FRIDAY, SEPT 28, 2018 (times and addresses to be added soon)
- Tucson & Phoenix
Meet-up(s) will caravan to Flagstaff to meet the tour participants coming
from the east. (Look for Arizona rendezvous locations/time/sdetails to
be announced below)
- Pontiac/GMC Cruise-In
at Freddy’s Custard and Steak Burgers in Flagstaff
- Bomber Run from
Flagstaff to Williams, AZ (30 miles west on I-40)
- “Cruise the 66
Loop” in Williams... Make a lap or two around downtown upon arrival
- Check-in to your
Williams overnight lodging accomodations.
- Night Cap adult
beverages at South Rims Wine & Beer Garage in Williams (Look for
their ‘66 GTO on display inside the bar area; closes at 10pm)
SATURDAY, SEPT 29, 2018 (times and addresses to be added soon)
- Breakfast on your
own (check to see if it is offered as part of your lodging) or, enjoy
a special Pontiac breakfast at South Rims (possible event, not yet confirmed).
- Depart for westward
cruise on I-40 and Route 66 at 8:00am in front of Canyon Motel.
- Caravan at your
own pace along the longest remaining stretch of old Route 66 (between
Seligman and Kingman*). Along the way, enjoy the whimsical “Burma Shave”
signs and numerous attractions along this two-and-a-half hour drive (130
miles). Perhaps enjoy a quick, late-morning Root Beer Float pick-me-up
and photo op at the Hackberry, AZ General Store.
- Plan to arrive
in Kingman, AZ no later than 12:30pm to participate in the fun, local celebration
known as “Andy Devine Days.” Enjoy the street fair and family-friendly
smalltown atmosphere, with plenty of lunch venues surrounding the car
show area. There is an optional CAR SHOW associated with this activity
which you may participate in ($20 entry fee) or simply be a “display only”

- When the Car Show
wraps at approx 4:00pm, check-in to your Kingman overnight lodging accomodations
and take this opportunity to relax, perhaps grab a shower and freshen-up.
- Then, join
our Pontiac/GMC group for a special Street Legends Dinner/Cookout, as
hosted by the three Arizona-based clubs. More details will
be posted here soon.
SUNDAY, SEPT 30, 2018 (times and addresses to be added soon)
- Breakfast on your
- Depart for home
(on your own schedule)
- OR... Meet at 8:00am in front of Hilltop Motel
to continue with the Route 66 Street Legends Tour as it heads west for
its final day of travels to nearby Oatman, AZ and Needles, CA (75 miles).
- The official event
ends in Needles where some participants will continue west towards the
Santa Monica Pier. Others will return home along various routes.
HOW TO PARTICIPATE:
- Research your
overnight lodging options (see below) and make reservations for
Friday and Saturday nights.
- Register with
Tour Coordinator Tom Oxler by phone or email, indicating your plans for
start/stop locations and dates of your participation. This is free
of charge, and you may cancel later without penalty if necessary. Download

- Get your favorite
Pontiac or GMC prepped and ready.
- Join us at any
